The Tiger Who Came to Tea

'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' was one of my favourite books as a child. I recently went to an AOI event called 'Looking at Children's Books'. Judith Kerr talked about her life as an illustrator and signed my copy of the book which was really great. She also wrote and illustrated the 'Mog' books based on her own cat. Also speaking at the event was Alexis Deacon who I also admire.

Brighton Illustrators Group

The last meeting I attended was a talk by Rod Hunt who is one of my favourite illustrators and the chairman of the Association of Illustrators. He illustrated 'Where's Stig' which is a great book that was a best seller last Christmas.

MA Sequential Design and Illustration

I have recently applied to study my MA in Sequential Design and Illustration at the University of Brighton. I hope to start this September and will keep you posted! I will be specialising in illustrating books for children, which is something I have always wanted to do. If anyone knows how to find funding/loans for an MA please let me know.

This is my exam piece for the University of Brighton. It is called Mad Cow and it was drawn using pen and ink. I recently won a competition with the AOI (Association of Illustrators) and it is to be published in IMAGES 34. The book will be available to buy in June 2010 and there will be an accompanying exhibition that will tour around England. Click HERE to find out more about Images. The Antipodes

This is my handmade book called Antipodes. It has illustrations and cut out images of animals from around the world. I drew the animals with a 0.1 Rotring pen and I cut out the other animals with a scalpel on coloured card. The original book is for sale as well as the original animal drawings and prints of them all.

I am passionate about bookbinding! I love to make all sorts of books from scratch, (illustrate them and write them too of course). I was recently commissioned by Oxfam to make sketchbooks using the covers of second-hand books, which was fun. I sell my handmade books in other shops around Brighton such as the Hope.
